These Terms of Use & Privacy Notice ("Terms") govern your use of Rides.fyi ("Platform", "we", "us", or "our").
The Platform is an independently operated ride-safety information service that allows users to search for user-submitted incident reports linked to vehicles and to submit reports about safety incidents they personally experienced.
By using the Platform or submitting a report, you agree to these Terms.
1. What the Platform does
The Platform provides access to user-submitted information about ride-related safety incidents. Published reports may include information such as:
- vehicle registration number;
- driver name shown for the reported ride;
- ride platform and ride type;
- incident date and general location;
- incident categories and reported concerns;
- a public summary of the report;
- report reference number.
The Platform is intended to provide passengers with additional safety context.
It is not a law-enforcement service, emergency service, investigative authority, ride-hailing company, background-check service, or safety-certification service.
2. Reports are user-submitted
Reports reflect information submitted by users. Unless expressly stated otherwise:
- we do not independently investigate whether a reported incident occurred;
- publication does not mean that we have confirmed an allegation;
- a report should not be treated as proof that an incident occurred;
- we do not certify a driver or vehicle as safe or unsafe;
- the absence of reports does not mean that a driver or vehicle is safe.
Reports should be considered one safety signal among other available information, not a final conclusion.
3. Who may submit a report
You may submit a report only where:
- the report relates to a ride or incident you personally experienced;
- the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge;
- you have a genuine safety-related reason for submitting it;
- you are submitting the report in good faith.
You must not knowingly submit false, fabricated, materially misleading, or malicious information.
4. Prohibited use
You must not use the Platform to:
- make knowingly false or fabricated allegations;
- impersonate another person;
- submit reports on behalf of someone else without authorization;
- harass, threaten, intimidate, retaliate against, or extort another person;
- manipulate the reporting system;
- coordinate false or duplicate submissions;
- use bots or automated systems to submit reports without authorization;
- attempt to identify anonymous reporters;
- scrape or harvest Platform information unlawfully;
- interfere with the operation or security of the Platform;
- evade technical, rate-limit, fraud-prevention, or abuse-prevention controls;
- use the Platform in violation of applicable law.
The Platform is intended for safety-related incidents, not ordinary customer-service or fare complaints that do not involve a genuine safety concern.
5. Personal information in reports
Please do not include unnecessary personal information in a report.
In particular, avoid including:
- personal phone numbers;
- home addresses;
- personal email addresses;
- government identification numbers;
- financial information;
- exact pickup or drop-off locations;
- unrelated information about third parties.
We may remove, redact, or withhold unnecessary personal information before processing or publishing a report.
6. Supporting documentation
We may require documentation connecting a report to the relevant ride, such as: a ride-hailing app screenshot, trip receipt, invoice, ride confirmation, or other appropriate documentation.
Supporting documentation may be used to:
- establish that the reported ride existed;
- associate the report with the relevant vehicle;
- identify duplicate reports;
- detect fraudulent or abusive submissions;
- process complaints and review requests;
- protect the integrity of the Platform.
Uploaded documentation is not intended to be displayed publicly.
7. What may be published
If a report is published, we may display selected information including:
- report reference number;
- vehicle registration number;
- driver name shown for that ride;
- ride platform;
- ride type;
- general location;
- incident date;
- incident categories;
- reported concerns;
- public summary.
We may redact, shorten, reorganize, classify, summarize, restrict, or remove information where reasonably necessary for privacy, clarity, safety, Platform integrity, or legal compliance.
8. What normally remains private
We do not intend to display publicly:
- the reporter's original written description;
- uploaded ride documentation;
- IP addresses;
- device or browser identifiers;
- fraud-prevention signals;
- security logs;
- other technical metadata collected for abuse prevention.
A public summary may be generated from the reporter's original description.
9. Automated processing and artificial intelligence
We may use automated systems, including artificial intelligence, to help operate the Platform.
These systems may assist with:
- creating public summaries;
- categorizing reports;
- assigning or supporting incident classifications;
- identifying duplicate reports;
- detecting suspicious or abusive activity;
- identifying potentially prohibited content;
- reducing unnecessary personal information;
- supporting moderation and report processing.
Automated systems can make mistakes.
An automatically generated summary or classification does not mean that the underlying incident has been independently verified.
We may modify, correct, withhold, or remove automated outputs where appropriate.
10. Publication and moderation
Submitting a report does not guarantee that it will be published.
We may: publish a report; decline to publish it; delay publication; request additional information; change or correct classifications; redact information; generate or modify a public summary; restrict visibility; remove a report; restore previously removed information.
We may take these actions where reasonably necessary to: enforce these Terms; prevent fraud or abuse; protect individuals; respond to disputes; comply with law; maintain Platform quality and integrity.
Publication does not constitute endorsement or independent verification of a report.
11. Severity and classifications
The Platform may display severity levels, categories, or other classifications.
These are intended to help users understand the nature of a reported incident.
A severity level or classification does not mean that we have independently determined that the allegation is true.
12. Requesting a review of a published record
If you believe a published record:
contains inaccurate information; identifies the wrong driver or vehicle; duplicates another report; contains prohibited material; infringes your rights; is unlawful; should otherwise be reviewed,
You may use the "Report an issue with this record" option to request a review.
Please provide enough information for us to locate the report and understand the issue.
We may request additional information where reasonably necessary.
After considering a request, we may: make no change; correct information; restrict the report temporarily; modify or redact information; remove the report; request additional information.
Nothing in this process limits any rights available to you under applicable law.
13. Your responsibility for your report
You remain responsible for the information you submit. By submitting a report, you confirm that:
- it is based on your own experience;
- the information provided is accurate to the best of your knowledge;
- you are acting in good faith;
- you are not knowingly making a false allegation;
- you have the right to provide any documentation you upload;
- your submission complies with these Terms and applicable law.
14. Permission to use submitted content
You retain any rights you may have in the content you submit.
By submitting content, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use that content as reasonably necessary to operate the Platform, including to: store; process; reproduce; categorize; summarize; redact; translate; moderate; publish; display; protect; analyze the submission.
This permission is limited to purposes reasonably connected with operating, securing, improving, defending, and administering the Platform.
15. No emergency service
The Platform is not an emergency service.
If you or another person is in immediate danger, contact the appropriate local emergency service, police, ride-hailing platform, or other competent authority.
Submitting a report through the Platform does not automatically notify: police; emergency services; the ride-hailing platform; regulators; other authorities.
16. Third-party platforms
Reports may refer to ride-hailing companies or other third-party services.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, we are independent of those companies and are not sponsored, approved, or endorsed by them.
Third-party names and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
Privacy
17. Information we collect
We aim to collect only information reasonably necessary to operate the Platform, process reports, prevent abuse, handle disputes, and maintain security.
Information you provide
When submitting a report, this may include:
- vehicle registration number;
- driver name shown for the ride;
- ride platform and ride type;
- incident date and time;
- city, state/region, and country;
- incident categories;
- reported concerns;
- written description;
- uploaded ride documentation;
- supporting documentation.
If you contact us or request review of a report, we may also collect information you provide through that process.
18. Technical, device, and network information
When you access or interact with the Platform, particularly when submitting reports, we may automatically collect limited technical information.
This may include: IP address; browser type; operating system; device characteristics; timestamps; network information; browser or device identifiers; request and security logs; approximate location derived from technical information, where available; fraud-prevention and abuse-prevention signals.
We may also generate identifiers or signals designed to recognize repeated, suspicious, automated, coordinated, or abusive activity.
We collect this information primarily to protect the reporting system from fraud and abuse.
Technical information is not intended to be displayed publicly.
19. How we use information
We may use information to: operate the Platform; process reports; associate reports with relevant rides or vehicles; create public summaries; categorize reported incidents; prevent duplicate submissions; detect fraudulent, malicious, coordinated, or automated activity; enforce rate limits; maintain Platform security; moderate submissions; investigate suspected misuse; process complaints and review requests; troubleshoot technical problems; improve the reliability of the Platform; maintain appropriate records; comply with applicable legal obligations.
We do not use technical metadata to publicly identify the person who submitted a report.
20. Fraud and abuse prevention
Because the Platform allows reports to be submitted without requiring an account, fraud and abuse prevention is important to maintaining the integrity of the service.
We may therefore use combinations of: IP information; device or browser signals; timestamps; submission patterns; ride details; document metadata; rate-limit information; other security signals to identify potentially fraudulent, duplicate, coordinated, or abusive submissions.
These systems may sometimes incorrectly identify legitimate activity as suspicious.
21. Public and private information
Information that may be public
If a report is published, users may see: report reference; vehicle registration; driver name shown for the ride; ride platform and ride type; general location; date; categories and reported concerns; public summary.
Information that is not intended to be public
We do not intend to display: original private descriptions; uploaded documentation; IP addresses; device/browser identifiers; security information; fraud-prevention signals.
22. Service providers
We may use third-party service providers to operate the Platform. These may provide services such as: website hosting; databases; file storage; security; content processing; artificial-intelligence services; analytics; fraud prevention; email or communications infrastructure.
These providers may process information as necessary to provide their services.
We do not authorize service providers to use information for unrelated purposes where we have the ability to impose such restrictions.
23. Legal disclosure
We may disclose information where reasonably necessary to:
- comply with applicable law;
- respond to valid legal process;
- respond to requests from competent authorities;
- protect the rights or safety of individuals;
- investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents;
- enforce these Terms;
- establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
We will consider the validity and scope of requests before disclosing information where legally permitted to do so.
24. Sale of personal information
We do not sell personal information.
If our practices materially change in the future, this notice will be updated and any rights required under applicable law will be provided.
25. Data retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected.
Retention periods may differ depending on the type of information.
Relevant considerations may include: whether a report remains published; prevention of duplicate or fraudulent reporting; dispute or review requirements; security requirements; legal obligations; backups; the need to establish or defend legal claims.
Limited security or fraud-prevention information may be retained after other information is deleted where reasonably necessary to prevent repeated abuse.
26. Information security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information against unauthorized access, misuse, alteration, or loss.
However, no internet service or method of electronic storage can guarantee absolute security.
27. Privacy rights and requests
Depending on where you live, applicable law may give you rights relating to your personal information.
These may include rights to: request access; request correction; request deletion; object to or restrict certain processing; obtain information about how your information is used; withdraw consent where processing depends on consent.
These rights vary by jurisdiction and may be subject to legal exceptions.
To make a privacy request, use the Rides.fyi contact form.
Please provide enough information for us to identify the relevant information or report.
We may need to verify your request before taking action.
28. Cookies and similar technologies
We may use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies where reasonably necessary to: operate the Platform; maintain security; remember user preferences; prevent fraud or abuse; understand basic Platform performance.
Where applicable law requires consent for non-essential cookies or similar technologies, we will request it.
If we later introduce advertising, behavioural tracking, or materially different analytics, this notice will be updated accordingly.
General Terms
29. Platform accuracy and availability
We try to operate the Platform responsibly, but we cannot guarantee:
- that every report is accurate;
- that every relevant incident has been reported;
- that every false report will be detected;

- that the Platform will operate without interruption or error.
The Platform is provided on an "as available" basis, subject to rights that cannot legally be excluded.
30. Your safety decisions
You remain responsible for decisions about whether to:
- take a ride;
- cancel a ride;
- continue a ride;
- interact with a driver;
- take any other safety-related action.
Do not rely exclusively on the Platform when making personal-safety decisions.
A report appearing, or not appearing, on the Platform should be considered together with other available information.
31. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or similar losses arising from:
- reliance on a user-submitted report;
- the absence of a report;

- automated summaries or classifications;
- publication or removal decisions;
- inability to access the Platform;
- actions taken by third parties.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be prohibited by law.
32. Responsibility for misuse
If you intentionally misuse the Platform or knowingly submit unlawful or fraudulent material, you may be responsible for losses, claims, or reasonable costs resulting directly from that misuse to the extent permitted by applicable law.
33. Intellectual property
Except for user-submitted content and third-party materials, the Platform's original software, design, branding, text, graphics, databases, functionality belong to us or our licensors.
You may use the Platform for its intended purpose.
You may not unlawfully copy, scrape, reproduce, commercially exploit, reverse engineer, or redistribute substantial portions of the Platform.
34. Changes to the Platform
The Platform is still evolving. We may:
- add or remove features;
- change reporting requirements;
- change moderation processes;
- modify how reports are displayed;
- introduce additional fraud-prevention measures;
- suspend or discontinue parts of the Platform.
35. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Platform, our practices, or legal requirements change.
The latest version will display the date it was last updated.
Where required by applicable law, we will provide additional notice before material changes take effect.
36. International use and local law
The Platform may be accessed from different countries.
Privacy, consumer-protection, intermediary, content, defamation, and other laws differ between jurisdictions.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot legally be waived under applicable law.
We may introduce jurisdiction-specific terms, notices, or procedures where required.

For questions about these Terms; privacy requests; complaints; concerns about a published report; legal notices; or other Platform-related enquiries, use the Rides.fyi contact form.
For issues concerning an individual report, you may also use "Report an issue with this record" where available.
